You might be getting to bed.

You might be sleeping through the night.

And still, you wake up feeling like you haven’t really rested.

That kind of tiredness is frustrating because sleep is supposed to fix it. When it doesn’t, you start wondering what you’re doing wrong.

logo-orig.pngOften, this sort of tiredness isn’t about hours slept. It’s about how much you’ve been carrying.

Mental and emotional effort uses energy, even when you’re not aware of it. Worry. Tension. Being “on” for other...

Overwhelmed so tired
Have you been to the doctors about this?

I struggled with massive sleep issues for years and eventually went to the doctor to find I had Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

It could be worth reaching out.
I don’t always feel sad.

I don’t always feel anxious either.

article banner.pngMostly, I just don’t feel much of anything.

Things happen and I know how I should react, but the feeling doesn’t really show up. Good things pass by without much impact. Bad things land, but only lightly. Like there’s a gap between me and whatever’s going on.

That can be worrying. You start wondering if something’s wrong with you. If you’ve stopped caring. If this is just how you are now.

Usually, it isn’t...

article banner.pngOverthinking can feel exhausting. Your mind won’t slow down. One thought turns into ten. You replay conversations, imagine outcomes, pick things apart long after the moment has passed.

Sometimes you don’t even notice you’re doing it until you’re already stuck in it.

It often starts as trying to make sense of things. You want to understand. You want to get it right. You want to avoid mistakes or hurt or regret. Somewhere along the way, that turns into thinking in circles...

article banner.pngSometimes, the anxiety just....shows up.

Nothing bad is happening. There’s no obvious threat. You’re not in danger. And yet your body feels tense, your thoughts won’t settle, and you can’t quite relax.

That can be frightening on its own.

When there’s no clear reason, anxiety feels harder to explain. You might keep scanning your life for a cause. Asking yourself what you’ve missed. Wondering if something bad is about to happen. That uncertainty can make the feeling spiral.

But...

Does anyone else struggle more at night when everything goes quiet?
Night time can be so lonely. Laid next to my sleeping partner while he snores away and I have nothing but the weight of my anxieties.

This time of night really does give you time to overthink.
article banner.pngI don’t always know why I feel low. Nothing obvious has happened. There isn’t a big problem I can point at. Life hasn’t fallen apart. And yet, something doesn’t feel right.

That’s usually the hardest part. When there’s no clear reason, you start questioning yourself instead. You tell yourself you’re being dramatic. Or ungrateful. Or that you should just get on with it. None of that actually helps.

Sometimes it’s not one thing. It’s lots of small things that never really got dealt...

Hey. I’m really glad you said something.

That worn-down, on-edge feeling is horrible, especially when you can’t even explain why it’s there. It doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong, and it doesn’t mean you should be coping better than you are. Sometimes it just builds up quietly and then hits.

You’re not being dramatic or weak for feeling like this again. It’s just where you are right now, and that’s okay.

You don’t have to figure anything out here. You don’t have to have answers. Just...
